COMPETITIVE MODEL ROCKETS
DESIGN TEAM PROJECT: THE AMERICAN ROCKETRY CHALLENGE
SEPTEMBER 2023-MAY 2025
SEPTEMBER 2023-MAY 2025
These are a series of model rockets I designed with a team of 10 to compete in the American Rocketry Challenge. We competed for two years, ultimately placing 18th nationally out of over 1,000 competing teams and winning 1st nationally in the marketing/presentation competition.
These rockets are a part of my involvement with the Olympia Aerospace Club, which I founded and served as president during my time at Olympia High School. My club fundraised over $27,000 to support 13 teams of 10 to compete in the American Rocketry Challenge.
Design Application: OpenRocket
Manufacturing: Laser Cutting, Hand-Assembly
Soft Skills: Leadership, Project Management, Fundraising, Teamwork
Demonstrates the efforts of my entire club, including our rocket designs.

Sometimes, rockets don't always do what you want them to. We learned that we had stored the solid propellant in a location that was too humid, causing the motors to detonate on ignition. We improved motor storage for the future, avoiding this problem.
The rockets packaged for nationals. We brought two identical copies as backup.
